This is not a team with the greatest and most known players. But it has its charm with players like Panenka and Bowles with some good stories to tell. Clemence, Schwarzenbeck and Haan who wasn't the biggest names but won a lot and played a part in the great Liverpool, Bayern and Ajax sides of the 70's.
Also this year has Jardine and Brooking who both has a stand named after them at Rangers and West Ham.
GK: Ray Clemence; 5x English champion and 3x European champion with Liverpool, where he was a part of the great team in the 70's. He later went to Tottenham where he won the FA Cup and the Uefa Cup. He made over 1000 career appearances. One of the greatest english keepers of all-time.
RB: Sandy Jardine; 3x Scottish champion and winner of the UEFA Cup winners cup. Jardine was a quick and strong player. On 16 July 2014 Rangers announced that the club will pay a lasting
tribute to Jardine by changing the name of the Govan Stand to the Sandy
Jardine Stand.
CB: Georg Schwarzenbeck; a decorated defender winning the World Cup and European Championship with Germany and 6 German league titles and 3 European Cups with Bayern. A loyal and unsong hero playing his whole career at Bayern Munich. Playing in the shadow of Beckenbauer, he is referred to as the Kaisers bodyguard.
RM: Arie Haan; part of the great Ajax team who won 3 European Cups, but he left in 75' to play the most of his career in Belgium for Anderlecht and Standard. 3x Belgian and Dutch champion.
CM: Antonin Panenka; won the 1976 European Championship with Czechoslovakia. In the final against Germany, he scored the winning penalty in the shootout with a softly-chipped ball up the middle of the goal as the goalkeeper dived away. This style of penalty is now called "a Panenka"
FW: Pietro Anastasi; is regarded as one of the best Italian strikers of his generation and earned the nickname "the white Pelé". He won 3 Italian league titles with Juventus and the 1968 European Championship with Italy scoring in the final.
